On December 29, 2025, Oxford University Press published The Foundations of Re-Enchantment, a scholarly study by Duke post-doctoral fellow Christopher Coome. Coome’s book explores a transformative moment in Anglophone history, as esotericism began to exercise significant influence over the public imagination in both England and the United States. The Foundations of Re-Enchantment is the only study of its kind of four key movements from the early 20th century, and sheds light on a baffling but crucial moment in history.
